Applying Acrylic-Werks and Claying

Instruction on Claying and Applying Acrylic-Wërks
  1. Pull 1 washcloth from Bucket “A”. Wring cloth out completely by hand then fold cloth in half and then in half again. (Note: We recommend you start with a trunk lid, rear spoiler or with an upper 6th of the hood until you get used to the process.)
  2. Apply about a half dollar size amount of polish directly to the cloth. (Note: Never apply polish directly to the surface.)
  3. Place cloth on the surface in a manner that it forms a diamond in front of you.
    - If you use your left hand pull the corner (1st Base) up and between your thumb and hand.
    - If you use your right hand then pull the corner (3rd Base) up and between your thumb and hand.
  4. Begin by moving your hand in a criss-cross motion leading with the bridge of your pinky and hand.
    - For lefties, start west and then go east, then rotate your wrist so you then can go north then south.
    - For righties, start east and then go west, then rotate your wrist so you can go north then south.
  5. Continue moving your hand in a criss-cross motion until your cloth feels a little dry. (Note: Do not buff polish off.)
  6. Lightly mist a small area with the Clay Lubricant.
  7. Take the clay bar and mash it between your palms and form a circular patty.
  8. Move the clay in a criss-cross motion several times until the surface is smooth to the touch, then fold the clay in half and start at the northern point and pull south and do this until all the lubricant, clay and polish residues are gone.
  9. Apply about a half dollar size amount of polish directly to the cloth. (Note: Never apply polish directly to the surface.)
  10. Place cloth on the surface in a manner that it forms a diamond in front of you.
  11. Begin by moving your hand in a criss-cross motion leading with the bridge of your pinky and hand.
  12. Continue moving your hand in a criss-cross motion until your cloth feels a little dry.
  13. Flip the cloth over and apply about a quarter size of polish to the cloth and repeat Steps 11 – 13 until the surface begins to get very glossy, even through the haze of the polish. (Note: Single Stage Paint will take longer, so watch and see how much color is coming up in your cloth, and keep going until there is little or no color coming up on your cloth.)
  14. Take your clean washcloth from Bucket “B” and wring it out slightly then fold cloth in half and then in half again then begin by moving your hand in a criss-cross motion leading with the bridge of your pinky and hand. Wipe area in a criss-cross motion, leaving a small trail of water behind.
  15. At this point, take your dry buffing diaper or t-shirt and buff to a shine.
We recommend that you use clay 2 times a year and definitely on the first time. When you are done with your clay, lightly mist it with the Clay Lubricant before putting it away in a soap dish for safekeeping.
